Mobilizing Men
What is Mobilizing Men?
Mobilizing Men is a group of primarily University of Idaho male/masculine-identified professionals who meet regularly to facilitate discussions and activities on topics related to masculinity and men's engagement in helping to end gender-based violence. Mobilizing Men was formed at the University of Idaho in 2017, as part of the goals established for a $300,000 Campus Violence Prevention Program grant awarded to the Women’s Center by the Dept. of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women.

Our Mission
Through open and authentic dialogue, Mobilizing Men aims to reduce and prevent power-based violence on campus and in our community. To accomplish this, we work to:
- foster connection and trust between male/masculine-identified individuals;
- increase our community’s understanding of inclusive masculinity;
- support male/masculine-identified individuals as they develop their identities; and
- promote transformative education for a safer, healthier, and more empathetic community.
Request a Presentation
90-minute facilitated conversations are available for all student organizations and teams, with a focus on those that primarily serve male/masculine-identified individuals. These presentations are highly interactive and recommended for smaller (up to 20 attendees) groups where possible. To request a presentation, please complete the form below. Note: in order to accommodate facilitators’ busy schedules, we typically require 2-3 weeks’ advance notice to schedule sessions.
Workshop Description
What are the social responsibilities and expectations of being a man? How do these expectations impact how we treat ourselves and others? Male/masculine-identified students on our campus often face exciting—but also tough—decisions regarding personal growth and identity. We warmly invite you to participate in a discussion with the members of Mobilizing Men. This workshop is interactive, open and free of judgement. Join us to foster development of an authentic and inclusive sense of self that empowers us to engage in respectful, compassionate and supportive relationships with each other and with our communities.
