Storage Management of Alpine Russet Potatoes
CIS1184
December 31, 2010
Alpine Russet is a high-yielding, late-maturing potato with long, lightly rusted tubers whose long-term storability is a special advantage. Based on three years of research at the University of Idaho Kimberly Research and Extension Center, this five-page publication describes optimal storage conditions and discusses the potato's dormancy length, glucose/sucrose concentration, fry color, mottling tendency and Fusarium dry rot susceptibility. As an added bonus, the study tracks the cultivar's percentage weight loss during three storage seasons and compares it with that of the Russet Burbank.
