BUL0898
November 2, 2015
Wireworms are among the most destructive soil insect pests, particularly of potatoes, corn, cereals and carrots. Worse, their numbers are resurging in the Pacific Northwest and Montana. This publication profiles those species found in southern and eastern Idaho, provides information on wireworm monitoring and gives recommendations for their management. Color photographs detail how to make a solar bait trap and show key characteristics of Aeolus mellillus, Hypnoidus bicolor, Limonius californicus, L. canis, L. infuscatus, Selatosomus aeripennis and S. pruininus.
