Idaho Pitch
The Idaho Pitch is a fast-paced event where student teams pitch their unique product to business leaders and investors while competing for cash prizes. Idaho Pitch teams are made up of students from every college at U of I, most of whom are taking entrepreneurship courses offered by the College of Business and Economics. At the Idaho Pitch, teams:
- Receive critical feedback on their product
- Gain confidence in pitching their idea
- Sharpen their presentation skills
The best teams learn to network with a dozen or more investors in the pitch’s social reception format, refine their product’s value proposition and attract seed capital to turn their ideas into reality.
Pitch Essentials
A solid pitch is short, containing just enough detail about your product to capture the attention of judges. It should convey your idea, why it is important, and identify:
- the problem you are solving
- the product’s target market and the business model used to reach it
- how your product solves the problem
- advantages you have over the competition
- what you want from the investor
This ‘teaser’ entices investors to schedule a follow-up meeting, hoping to satisfy their own curiosity. During the follow-up you can pitch your full plan, decide how the investor can help you and determine how you can help them.
