Business Management
Managing People and Organizations
Business management (MGT) has moved beyond simply managing operations smoothly. Modern MGT professionals are effective leaders who help their organizations develop organizational strategies, construct effective organizational structures and cultivate high-performing and competitive workforces.
As an MGT major, you will learn to:
- Develop and manage organizational vision and strategy in today’s dynamic business environment, applicable to organizations of all sizes including small businesses.
- Lead and manage large organizations, small businesses, teams, projects and innovations.
- Lead and manage people through talent management, performance management and employee relations practices.
- Help organizations capitalize on a changing workforce that values meaningful work, flexibility, work-life balance and hybrid and remote work.
- Create an inclusive, ethical and socially responsible organization by managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders – such as society, shareholders, managers, consumers and employees.
Additionally, MGT majors will gain practical experience and knowledge in operations, marketing, finance and information systems to understand how connected and inseparable each business discipline is from the others. You will also discover and learn to apply management’s critical functions across industries, organizations and workforces.
Whether you aspire to a career in corporate management, non-profit management, human resource management, entrepreneurship, small business management or consulting – graduates will be well-prepared to take on leadership roles and drive organizational success.
