Research Facilities
The University of Idaho Department of Biological Sciences features several top-rated research facilities, institutes and centers on the Moscow campus. The department has access to university computers via the campus network. Students primarily use personal laptops. Wireless access is offered in Gibb Hall and the Life Sciences South buildings.

Aquaculture Research Institute

Institute for Modeling Collaboration and Innovation
The Institute for Modeling Collaboration and Innovation (IMCI) will create the intellectual, cultural, and physical environment to foster convergence in interdisciplinary biomedical research. It brings together empirical scientists and modelers to address problems across all levels of biological organization, from biophysical to ecological.

Electron Microscopy Center
This multidisciplinary research facility located in McClure Hall provides the tools to facilitate research at the molecular level and trains students to use the electron microscopes with courses offered through the Department of Geology.

IIDS Core Facilities
IIDS hosts the Research Computing and Data Services and Genomic & Bioinformatics Resources Core facilities. These facilities provide equipment and expertise to acquire, analyze, and visualize data collected from high throughput methods for genomics and microscopy.

Optical Microscopy and Flow Cytometry Center
The Optical Microscopy Center offers high resolution microscopy and analytical flow cytometry services located in Life Science South. Researchers receive hands-on training to personalize their imaging and cytometry needs and, once trained, receive access to work independently.

University of Idaho Libraries
The University Library recently underwent a $12.4 million renovation and addition which essentially created a new library facility. Current library holdings exceed 1.8 million items. A centralized reference area on the first floor contains directories, indexes, and abstracts of research in the biological sciences and related fields. The library also holds over 150 biological science journals covering all major areas of research. As a service to new users, the library provides training sessions on the use of its information system.

Washington State University Libraries
Library resources at nearby Washington State University are also available to Idaho students. These include Washington State's Owen Science and Engineering Library, Fischer Agricultural Sciences Branch Library, and the Health Sciences (formerly Veterinary Medical/Pharmacy) Library.
