BetterMynd

The University of Idaho provides strong support to students’ mental health through its endorsement of the partnership between the CMHC and BetterMynd. This collaboration enables the CMHC to increase access to counseling services for U of I students enrolled at the Moscow campus, satellite campuses and online programs across and beyond Idaho.

With BetterMynd, students have access to counseling and workshop services at traditional hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) as well as evenings, weekends and university breaks. With a large network of licensed mental health professionals, BetterMynd provides students with the flexibility to select counselors with specialties, demographics, identities, lived experiences or a language that match their preferences.

In requesting to access counseling and workshop services through the BetterMynd platform, I hereby consent that the University of Idaho may provide personal information about me such as my name and email address to the BetterMynd platform. The disclosure of such information by the University is necessary to facilitate my access to a vetted network of independently licensed mental health counselors.

If I do not consent to the terms listed above, I understand that I may not be able to utilize the BetterMynd platform. However, I will continue to have access to mental health services available at the CMHC location at the Moscow campus.

Frequently Asked Questions

If a student is not receiving email verifications to their inbox, it is because the verification email has landed in their spam folder. In rare instances, email verifications from BetterMynd to University of Idaho students get held up in the University of Idaho “email quarantine”. It is highly likely that one of these two situations is happening here.

  • First, can you check your spam folder to ensure that the verification email is not being routed there by mistake? The verification email you are looking for arrives from no-reply@mail.app.bettermynd.com.
  • If the verification email is NOT in spam, this means that the verification email is likely being held in “quarantine.” Students can release emails in “quarantine” by visiting https://quarantine.uidaho.edu to release the specific message (again, the sender is no-reply@mail.app.bettermynd.com). Additional instructions can be found at https://support.uidaho.edu/TDClient/40/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=1346

If you find the verification email in one of these two sections but the verification has expired (verifications expire after 24 hrs), you can visit BetterMynd and click Register in the upper right corner. Enter your U of I email address and then revisit the steps above.

BetterMynd counseling and crisis services are available for students who maintain their active enrollment status at the University of Idaho during the time that they seek mental health services.

You can attend counseling with one clinician at a time to focus on your counseling needs and goals. If you choose to work with a BetterMynd clinician, you can still have access to other services available at the CMHC, including the following:

  • Urgent/Same-day Care
  • Workshops
  • Groups
  • Consultation
  • Case Management
  • Psychiatric Services
  • Psychological Assessment

During the time that you receive one-on-one counseling with a BetterMynd clinician, you are not eligible for one-on-one individual counseling at the CMHC.

BetterMynd counselors are independently licensed mental health professionals. They can offer support and intervention for common concerns related to stress, anxiety, depression and relationships.

BetterMynd counselors conduct an initial evaluation in your first Zoom appointment and will collaborate with you on developing the best course of treatment.
