Xi Sigma Pi

Initially founded as a local chapter at the University of Washington in 1908, the Society of Xi Sigma Pi is the national forestry honors society, which has grown to a national organization with 43 active charters. Academic excellence and holistic professionalism are founded on traits of honesty, amiability, morality, dependability, industry, leadership and cooperation. These are traits all applicants and members of Xi Sigma Pi are heavily scrutinized for.

Qualified applicants to Xi Sigma Pi must have obtained a minimum of 74 semester hours of scholastic work, are ranked in the upper 25% of their class, have an average GPA of “B” (3.0) or higher, and have completed 10 semester hours in forestry or forestry-related natural resource management classes.

Election to membership requires creditable interest and activity in course curriculum, as well as promise of attaining high professional achievement.

The governing chapter of Xi Sigma Pi for the 2016-2018 period is the chapter at the University of Idaho.
