Internship Information

Students must register for JAMM 498 for the term in which the internship occurs. Register for one, two or three credits. Student and internship supervisor should agree to a work plan. Supervisor must agree return completed mid-term and final evaluation forms to the internship coordinator.

Students must submit a final written report and work samples the last week of the term. See requirements in the internship packet. Internships are graded on a pass/fail basis.

JAMM students intern at newspapers, radio and television stations, ad agencies and entertainment companies. Interns receive a first-hand look at how media industries work while making valuable contacts and developing hands-on skills.

Students are encouraged to pursue internships when they reach junior status. For more information, email the internship coordinator.

Requirements:

• Major or minor in Journalism and Mass Media,
• Junior class standing, and
• 2.5 overall GPA 

Legislative Internships

The McClure Center and School of Journalism and Mass Media will offer two legislative internship positions for CLASS students interested in reporting on government and public issues. Interns will be based in Boise while the Idaho legislature is in session.

Seeking an intern?

The School of Journalism and Mass Media invites proposals from media outlets, nonprofit agencies and other organizations interested in sponsoring internships. The school offers internship credits and can provide confirmation of enrollment to internship sponsors. The school can also assist employers who wish to pay tuition for summer internships. Organizations must provide a position description and designate a supervisor who works closely with the student to provide regular feedback and a final evaluation.
