Research Integrity
The university has established policies and procedures and created structures to foster a proper research environment, to support and monitor research activities and to deal effectively with misconduct or allegations of misconduct in research (FSH 3230). These structures include various review boards that fall under the Office of Research Assurances (ORA), and include, but are not limited to, the Institutional Review Board (IRB - human subjects) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). University policies and procedures have also been established to conform to federal regulations overseen by various government agencies. These areas include: biohazardous materials (including various controlled substances, pharmaceuticals, hypodermic needles and recombinant DNA); radioactive materials (Institutional Biosafety Committee); shipping of hazardous materials, hazardous waste; and export of information and goods (Export Controls).
