Join 4-H

The 4-H program has something for everyone. 

In 4-H a youth's 4-H age is determined by the age they are on Jan. 1 of the current 4-H year.  A youth's 4-H age determines what age division that they will fall in.

  • Cloverbuds:5 to 7 years of age
  • Members: 8 to 18 years of age
    • Juniors: 8 to 10 years of age
    • Intermediates: 11 to 13 years of age
    • Seniors: 14 to 18 years of age
  • Volunteers:
    • To lead a project area volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older and not still enrolled in 4-H.
    • For shooting sport volunteers:
      • To become a volunteer shooting sports instructor
        • Must be at least 21 years of age 
        • Must be a certified volunteer
        • Successfully complete state-sanctioned (Level 1) training for each discipline that you will be leading.
      • To become an Assistant Instructor
        • Must be at least 18 years of age.
        • Must have at least one year of 4-H member experience in that shooting sports discipline you want to help lead.
        • Can only provide youth instruction under the direct supervision of the instructor who is physically present.

4-H Enrollment Fees

4-H Member (Youth 8-18 years of age) $40
4-H Horse Members (Youth 8-18 years of age) $42
Cloverbud (Youth 5-7 years of age) $30
For Every Project Above Three Projects $3 per project
Optional Volunteer Accident Insurance $1
Optional Horse Volunteer Accident Insurance $2

All fees must be paid before the youth is marked as active in ZSuite. 4-H Enrollment fees must be received within sixty days of submitting your enrollment or the youth will not be covered by insurance and will not be able to participate in any meetings or activities for the club, county, state or nation.

Ways to pay:

  • Pay Online with a credit/debit card.
  • Pay over the phone with a credit/debit card.
  • Pay in person with cash, a check or a credit/debit card.
  • Mail a check payable to:

If you are having difficulties paying the 4-H Enrollment Fee, there are a couple of options:

  • Set up a payment plan with the UI Extension office.
  • Complete the Benewah County 4-H Enrollment Scholarship Application.

We do not want finances to be a barrier for youth to participate in 4-H.
