Admissions
The Idaho Legislature currently reserves 40 seats in the University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM) for its residents. Six of the seats are for the TRUST program. Prospective medical students must apply for admission through the University of Washington School of Medicine first, designating Idaho as their state of residence. As part of the application review, applicants will be directed to submit their residency certification worksheet. The residency worksheet should NOT be submitted prior to contact from University of Washington. Once your application is reviewed you will receive instructions to certify your residency.
Idaho students applying to both WWAMI and University of Utah School of Medicine need only one Idaho residency certificate. The University of Idaho will provide a copy of your residency certification to Idaho State University for verification for your University of Utah application. Students only need to submit a worksheet to certify residency through one institution.

Service Payback
In the 2022 legislative session, the Idaho legislature passed a bill affecting new Idaho students in the WWAMI program. This new law affects WWAMI students starting the program in the Fall of 2023. Idaho resident students accepted into the WWAMI medical program or the University of Utah School of Medicine in a slot reserved for an Idaho student are now required to enter active full-time professional practice in Idaho for a period of four years. This four-year full time professional practice must start within one year of obtaining a license to practice medicine, finishing a residency or subspeciality residency, or finishing a medical education fellowship. The law requires students to contractually commit to this work-in-Idaho requirement. Failing to abide by that contract will require the student to reimburse the state of Idaho for the amount of money the state spent supporting the student’s medical education. Professional Licensure
Completion of this program will make you eligible to sit for the United States Medical Licensing Exam.
