Lauren McCleary teaches Art Education courses in Art and Design and Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Idaho. She holds a BFA and K-12 Art Education degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver, and an MFA from Washington State University. She has lived on the Palouse since 2007 and is now the Clinical Assistant Professor of Art Education at the University of Idaho. Lauren previously worked for the U of I Prichard Art Gallery as the Education Outreach Coordinator and loves getting to know the Moscow community through arts programming. Her creative practice looks at patterns, cycles, balance, and relationships primarily through cut paper and collage. Her cut paper process allows her to translate observations, a way of mending and meditating on matters at hand, allowing her to hold strict concentration and playfulness in the same hand.
