Carolina Manrique is an Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Idaho. Her current research focuses on developing the notion of resilience in architecture, and the relationship between structures and architectural design. The emerging notion of resilience in architecture, and lessons from historic preservation and history of building technology are used to expand the possibilities of this integrated approach.

Carolina Manrique holds a PhD in Architecture from Texas A&M University, USA. Her dissertation aimed towards developing the notion of resilience through an integrated approach between heritage conservation and heritage tourism. She is an architect with a bachelor's degree in Architecture from the Universidad del Valle (Cali, Colombia), a master’s degree in building technology (structures) from the Universitat Polytecnica de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain), and an advanced dual master’s degree in structural analysis of monuments and historical constructions from Universidade do Minho (Guimaraes, Portugal) and Universitat Polytecnica de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain).
