Diane Armpriest Hands-On Architecture Experience Award

The Hands-on Experience Award supports students who wish to pursue expertise in the integration of architecture and construction. The award supports a design-focused, hands-on architecture and/or construction experience in an area that is distant from the student’s home or school location. The experience will focus on a particular area of interest to the student (focused investigation).

Eligibility

• Open to entering and continuing graduate students in the Architecture Program.
• The experience might include, but is not limited to, an internship or job at an exceptional, distant architectural, design/build or construction management firm with a supervised office and on-site experience. 
• The award may be used to support travel to distant work site/living expenses, research, documentation, and presentation.

Note: This award does not support participation in regularly offered design build courses at the University of Idaho.

Requirements

To apply, use the form below to upload a three-page proposal that includes:

• Your goal for the experience and the focused investigation.
• A description of how you plan to achieve this goal.
• What you hope to learn about the relationship between architectural design and construction and how the hands-on experience will support your academic, professional, and personal goals.
• A budget for how the funds will be used.
• How the award will provide opportunities you might not otherwise have.
• Any anticipated academic credit. In the case of an internship, proof of internship and dates are required before the semester the internship begins.
• Award recipients shall share the experience and focused investigation with fellow students and faculty by way of a published presentation or other comparable demonstration.
