The overarching goal of my research program is to understand the ways in which impact cratering has affected the evolution of the surfaces of planets and moons with solid surfaces. On airless, inactive bodies, the impact cratering record can reveal the history of solar system bombardment. Impact cratering also exposes a surface’s history by exposing sub-surface layers and material. I use high-resolution, orbital images from both Mars and the Moon, combined with other remote sensing data, to piece together the larger picture of the current state and history of the surfaces of these worlds.
