Rinker Rock Creek Ranch

We are extremely grateful to BLM Fire and Blaine County Fire agencies for the actions taken during and after the Glendale Fire. The fire burned more than 20% of the ranch, including the northern portion of Rock Creek, and it’s tributaries in the East and West Fork, Long Gulch, Smith Creek and Kent Canyon. We are also grateful for, and working closely with, our partners at The Nature Conservancy of Idaho and the Wood River Land Trust, along with several others on our advisory board including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Idaho Department of Fish and Game and the Idaho Governor’s Office of Species Conservation, to stabilize soil, minimize erosion and develop post-fire restoration plans. Rehabilitation and restoration work will commence as early as Oct. 7 and continue through the onset of winter. Public access may be disrupted temporarily during fall of 2024 through 2025 in some areas as active restoration occurs. Please check this website for closure information and watch for signs posted on the ranch.

Rinker Rock Creek Ranch is a unique research, education and outreach facility that offers a hands-on approach to rangeland management and conservation. The working ranch doubles as a living laboratory where science-based practices for land managers are developed.

The University of Idaho delivers programming at Rinker Rock Creek Ranch to the central Idaho community on rangeland, plants, wildlife, stream restoration and cattle management.

The multi-use ranch relies on an advisory committee to help guide management and research priorities. Learn more about this committee and Rinker Rock Creek Ranch.
