University of Idaho Celebrates 30 Years of Engineering Innovation on Friday
April 25, 2023
MOSCOW, Idaho — University of Idaho engineering and computer science students will display how they solve real-world problems during the Engineering Design EXPO on Friday, April 28.
Student teams will present projects — including building unmanned aircraft for NASA, bacteria-resistant coatings to protect astronauts in the space and constructing new bridges over the Potlatch river — from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, April 28, in the ICCU Arena on the Moscow campus. Student projects are also available to browse online.
Team projects stem from work in U of I College of Engineering’s Interdisciplinary Capstone Design Program, recognized by the National Academy of Engineering as one of the nation’s top seven programs for providing undergraduate students with real-world experiences.
Idaho Power and IDACORP President and Chief Executive Officer Lisa Grow, a U of I alumna in electrical engineering, will deliver the EXPO’s keynote address 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, in the ICCU Arena.
Grow is Idaho Power’s second female engineer and its first female CEO. Grow has dedicated her entire 36-year career to Idaho Power. She started as an intern, and joined the company immediately after graduating from college. She leads Idaho Power’s more than 2,000 employees.
Students will also publicly present their projects virtually 2-6 p.m. Thursday, April 27, and 2-5 p.m. Friday, April 28.
