Community Development
UI Extension community development programs foster sustainable economic and social relationships to improve the quality of life for Idaho citizens.
Leadership to Make a Difference Institute
The Leadership to Make a Difference Institute (LMDI) is a collaboration between UI Extension and the Spirit Center at the Monastery of St. Gertrude. LMDI follows an “immersion” model. It brings community members together for two full days of training. Training can be adjusted to fit the needs of communities. LMDI training is designed to develop people's confidence in their own leadership abilities and their courage to take action about community issues.
Ready, Set, Grow Your Business
This free workshop series is offered throughout the year for current and potential business owners. Topics include building your business, managing your financials, creating an effective elevator pitch and using social media. UI Extension partners with local business support agencies such as the North Central Idaho Small Business Development Center, Beautiful Downtown Lewiston and Nez Perce Tribal Economic Development for this program.
Community Coaching for Grassroots Action
Community Coaching for Grassroots Action (CCGA) is designed to help communities build leadership capacity among their residents. By taking a “guide on the side” approach, CCGA supports community members as they:
- Create a vision
- Build consensus
- Identify strategies
- Develop the community support needed for progress toward prosperity.
