Degrees in Chemical & Biological Engineering
Our department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in chemical engineering and biological engineering.
What is Chemical Engineering?
Combine interests in chemistry with the disciplines of engineering, mathematics and physics in order to solve problems and find more efficient solutions. Chemical engineers have discovered new fabrics to enhance athletic performance, created new compounds to improve how medicines are absorbed and administered, designed bio-compatible materials for prosthetics, and experimented with alternative fuel using microbes and other renewable energy solutions.
What is Biological Engineering?
Creatively solve problems involving plants, animals, microorganisms and biological materials. Integrate biological systems with fundamental engineering principles to design systems that influence, control or utilize biological materials and organisms to benefit humanity. Biological engineers design medical devices and new processes to clean our air and water. They genetically engineer bacteria to remove toxins and produce fuel and pharmaceuticals, and develop equipment to harvest and process our food.
