Course work will include chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, general biology, microbiology, immunology, pathogenic bacteriology, and math. Common pre-medical laboratory science majors include medical sciences and microbiology. You should also seek out opportunities to shadow health care professionals to evaluate your interest in the field.
These steps are prerequisites for applying to an accredited medical laboratory science program for one additional year of specialized training and completion of a certification exam.
