2024-25 Sustainable Initiatives Fund Recipients
Revitalizing the Pollinator Garden; Plant and Pollinator Selection

Steve Lemeshko, Zoe Doerr, Natalie Rice, Taggart Wilcox, Jackson Lucas and Elaina Parker were awarded $3000 for their project focusing on the revitalization of the Wicks Field Pollinator Garden on campus, where they plan to add watering infrastructure, new native plant habitats and other general improvements to create a space for the on-campus and local community to engage with nature, learn about the importance of native plants and see the wildlife they sustain.
Revitalizing the Pollinator Garden; Landscape Architecture Section

Jesse Waylon Fay, Sam Smith, Caleb Wagner, Zann Rudd and the Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (SCASLA) were awarded $3000 to revitalize and expand Wicks Field Pollinator Garden on campus in partnership with the Society of Conservation Biology (SCB). SCASLA’s role includes creating a plan for future expansion of the garden, installation of structured pathways and creation of a rock garden to help reduce flooding in the area.
Bird Friendly Windows

Seanna Wittler, Riley Robenstein, Sam Ernest, Miles Butler and Ryan Wild were awarded $3,000 for their project which plans to add CollidEscape bird-friendly window film to the windows of the ISUB fourth floor conference rooms. This project aims to prevent birds from colliding with the windows, helping to protect the local bird population and support campus biodiversity.
