B.S. Business; Operations and Supply Chain Management '22
Alex Banks is from Boise, Idaho and has decided to pursue a double major in Management Information Systems and Operation Management because of his passion for computers and technology. During his 10 years of service in the Navy he rose from a simple deck seaman to a fully qualified Watch Officer for the Network Operations Center at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific. He led a team of 10 other sailors to troubleshoot and maintain all IP-based services for over 300 U.S. and allied surface ships in the pacific region and then went on to become a senior Network and Systems Administrator for a Destroyer class ship. Upon graduation he hopes to find work in Seattle in the field of Information Systems to expand his knowledge in the ever changing tech-based world. He’s considering applying to the University of Washington for a graduate program with the ultimate goal of finding a career as a Network Architect. He says that the assistance provided by OPED and the GI Bill® combined will go a long way in helping him purchase materials he needs to excel in pursuing his education full-time.
