Faculty in the Agricultural Education, Leadership and Communications (AELC) conduct research related to teaching and learning in agricultural education and the agricultural industry. They work with students and stakeholders to research areas related to AEE and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences’ mission and vision.

Agricultural Education Teacher Self-Efficacy — Hatch Project

The primary purpose of this study is to describe the perceived agricultural education teacher self-efficacy of pre-service teachers, teacher candidates and novice agricultural educators. Additionally, this study describes factors that affect agricultural education teacher self-efficacy during pre-service teacher education and the beginning years of teaching will be identified.

Beginning Agricultural Education Instructor Needs Assessment

The purpose of this Delphi study is to establish consensus among beginning agricultural (0-5 years) education instructors, veteran (six plus years) agricultural education instructors and building principals regarding the professional development needs of beginning secondary agricultural education instructors. The second part of this study is to work with beginning agricultural education instructors, assigned mentor veteran agricultural education instructors and building principals regarding the specific professional development needs of first year agricultural education instructors. This pre/post test will target professional development and identify growth over the course of the first year, with the assistance of building level professional development, mentor teachers and the beginning teacher induction program.

The Role Music Played in the History of the FFA and NFA Youth Organizations

This research will study the history of music within the FFA and NFA Youth Organizations including the state and national bands, chorus, talent and quartet contests.

History of Women in Agricultural Education and the National FFA Organization

The goal of this study is to develop a comprehensive history of the involvement and influence of women on the history of agricultural education and the national FFA organization.

College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Graduate Follow Up Study

The purpose of this study is to determine the perception College of Agricultural and Life Sciences graduates have regarding their undergraduate education and its applicability to employment history after graduation. Enrollment decisions and factors influencing these decisions will also be assessed.

Climate of Teaching in Colleges of Agriculture

The purpose of this study is to describe the climate for teaching among faculty in Colleges of Agriculture within Public and Land Grant Institutions. The results will help identify the need for professional development to improve teaching at the college level and to advance the evaluation of teaching. Data will be collected from faculty members across the country.

Exploring the Impact of Agricultural Education in Rural Communities in Idaho

Initiatives in education are supporting rural education across the country. In Idaho, we will explore and describe the impact that agricultural education programs have on rural communities. This impact will include the development of productive citizens through the National FFA Organization, the economic impact of Supervised Agricultural Experiences and overall well-being of the community.
