Program Requirements
The interior architecture and design program is competitive; current students must gain admittance to the second and third year design studios by meeting the following requirements:
Year One: Complete University Requirements
Satisfy the University of Idaho’s core educational requirements and complete foundational courses in art, architecture and interior architecture and design.
Year Two: Pre-Professional Interior Architecture and Design Program
At the end of the spring semester of your first year, you will apply to the pre-professional B.I.A.D. program. Your work will be evaluated on your transcripts and grade point average (minimum 2.5 GPA required).
The most qualified students (including transfer students) are selected for admission. Transfer students may qualify for advanced placement.
Year Three: Professional Interior Architecture and Design Program
After completing second-year requirements, you may apply to the professional B.I.A.D. program. The application must include:
- Portfolio
- Transcript and GPA (minimum 2.5 GPA required).
Approximately 15-20 of the most qualified students (including transfer students) are selected for admission to each studio section. There is a 15:1 student to instructor ratio in upper-division studios.
