Signature Area | S.T.E.M. Education
Economic projections point to a need for approximately 1 million more STEM professionals than the U.S. will produce at the current rate over the next decade if the country is to retain its historical preeminence in science and technology (PCAST 2012). University of Idaho realizes that meeting this challenge requires changes in teaching and learning that are founded in research. That is why we have designated STEM Education as a signature area within the Office of Research and Economic Development. Broadly speaking, this signature area focuses on research that will elucidate the barriers, inform best practices, and transform our efforts to engage students from pre-school through graduate school in STEM fields.
